Terminus Point Edition (TPE) TPE V0.04 12-14-02 TPE is the TerminusPoint Edition of Terminus. It is a bug fixed and enhanced version based on Terminus V1.81 code under license from VVisions. TPE is a product of TerminusPoint.com and not supported by VVisions. This is a major release of TPE combining a years worth of Server side changes some Client improvements, bug fixes, and a improved protocol with lower bandwidth and easily extensible. A detailed listing of Changes can be found in the file CHANGES. Known Issues: Some Mac systems have experianced unusual Video problems. Sometimes running the original Terminus first has been known to resolve this issue. There has been a report of Training not working properly on Mac's. Enhance protocol & features has not been enabled in LOCAL mode. It is a bug fixed and enhanced version based on Terminus V1.81 code under license from VVisions. TPE is a product of TerminusPoint.com and not supported by VVisions. Specific Changes for Versions can be found in the file CHANGES. Much effort has been made in keeping backwards compatibility whenever possible. Any incompatibilities in the V0.xx series are to be considered bugs. TPE supports two levels of multiplayer protocol. The original V1.2 used by Terminus and an extended TPE protocol V1.4. TPE Clients & Servers support autodetection of the protocol to use without conflict with V1.2 Clients/Servers. Currently the benefit of V1.4 is reduced bandwidth usage in both directions. TPE also uses less bandwidth when a TPE Server is talking to a non-TPE Client, but additional savings are seen with V1.4. The V1.4 protocol is also designed to allow adding future extensions which will be ignored and unused if both ends don't support the extensions. This means that in the future changes could be added to Servers which newer Clients can take advantage of without breaking compatibility with older Clients. Additional effort has been going in (and continues to go in) to finding and removing bugs in Terminus under the TPE distribution as well as extending and improving the game. KEEP A COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL TERMINUS PROGRAM! 2. MAKE A COPY OF terminus.ctl, running TPE WILL REMOVE COMPATIBILITY 3. Make sure you Terminus has been upgraded to V1.81 4. Install the file(s) in you Terminus directory/folder 5. Run TPE instead of Terminus NOTES: Some saved games won't start under TPE that were created by Terminus. This is being looked into. We have tried to keep as many items as backwards compatible as possible. Configuration setting can now permit you to have non-standard values. This may affect the balance in Story Mode. Most new features are intended for use in FreeMode or a controlled environment where people know it is odd. Any commands that changes values while running should be used with caution. This includes (but not limited to) setconfig. Additional /commands are not active unless a server password is specified and /authenticate (password) is used.
