TerminusPoint TPE Current Status List
The following is a quick status of items that have been on the Wish List.
This status only applied to TPE and not the original Terminus.
COMPLETE as of TPE V0.04 12/25/02
- Reduce bandwidth requirements, use packet shortening
- Audit protocol checksum and see if we are avoiding x^y on every packet (table lookups ok)
- Locate & remove ship replication problems
- Fix Neutral Bug
- Add method to help switch Pilots from Neutral to Merc or Pirate (failsafe)
- % in global message typed at consol bug (printf?)
- Server command to transmit on a single channel
- Server command to trigger a canned script (such as launch a Cruiser on a patrol)
- Be able to specify additional files for scripts, etc
- Safe way to trigger scripts if they aren't running & ignore request if they are.
- Have times with 'mother lodes' or rare ores can be found on Asteroids, not just fixed percent
- At intervals permit one asteroid to have some Valerium (moves around)
- Pilot & Ship name restrictions under Server control (example, remove leading/traiing spaces)
- Find out why Stations stop rotating
- Message of the day greeting
- AI's have better names in deathmatch
- Allow Gamma correction under Linux
- See a Comm Freq in server consol
- Make sure Stations don't consume unless they produce (can be enabled or disabled)
- Make sure Stations don't produce unless they have all items needed (most of the time, tunable)
- Stations issue Transport Contract
- Identify a set of scripts that can be triggered as mini stand alone scenarios and run them at random intervals.
- Support for extending Client / commands
- Pentium - P3, Athlon, and G3/G4 optimized versions (still needs improving)
- Fix Server Crash when accessing Personal Info if you have LOTS of ships & equipment
- Fix 'Cargo bug' where buying a ship with Qty of items in Cargo Bay only deducts one from station
- More Dynamic Economy
- Have top speed damage increase more gradually, currently its too sudden (let them push the envelope a little bit more)
- Improve economy so shop keepers know the cost of their goods
- Small moons are now minable
- Sortable Economy price tables
- Sortable Contract listings
- Console access to some scripting commands
- XP cutscene timing bug fixed
PARTIAL as of TPE V0.04 12/15/02
- LINUX - Reduce save game lag (multi-threading, avoid compression, or in memory copy)
- ALL - Locate & remove crashes (still some causes left)
- ALL - Support for abbreviations of consol Server Commands (needs abbreviation of gadgets & stations)
- ALL - Ability to prefix output from Server with characters to differentiate Comm traffic from Server messages (not all messages are affected yet)
- ALL - Be able to adjust additional game parameters (chance for rare ores, PVG's, starting money, ...)
- ALL - Server maintenance of Pilots and Ships (more features needed still)
- ALL - Support for Ranking Boards (Kills & Credits at least) (needs better integration)
- ALL - Additional Gates & Stations (Mercury Mining & Observatory, ...) (needs Economy, dynamic, & Commander)
- ALL - Able to control PVG restrictions (still has problems with negative Qty)
- ALL - Remote Consol support with security (/authenticate & many console commands via /)
- ALL - Ability to share more data or interact with Web Server (probably through consol commands & external scripting, or add on Mod) (player standing data supplied)
- ALL - Fix PVG & Heavy Imm multiple purchase bug (needs final feature handshake)
- ALL - Make Pilot Name available for external scripting on Server
- ALL - Add more life/interest to Military in Free Mode
- ALL - Check on why Strike contracts vanish so quickly to AI's (selection has been tuned)
- ALL - Audit ship sizes & 'bounding box'. Two eclipses bumping at 1.6k-1.8k sounds like a big ship. (done on purpose so you can actually hit your target)
- Server-Add another larger bounded Deathmatch (or be able to define the size of it) (needs handshake & scaling)
- Locate & remove password and Pilot trashing (might be source of crashes)
- Make sure files are listed in Save/Load of Ship Manager (specially Linux)
- Be able to issue shipment contracts (Server issues, still need player contracts)
Wish list for Terminus. Derived from thinking, E-Mails, posts, and other sites.
In no particular order (Updated 12/15/02):
- Wrap messages into multiple lines if the line is too long (client & consol)
- Multithreading support (specially on dedicated Server)
- Have Reputation & Alignment more meaningful in Free Mode
- AI persistent attitude (goes with reputation)
- Add support for Team/Clan affiliation to Free Mode
- Make AI's have longer memories of Team/Clan attitudes
- AI's appear to be able to track/lock on to high stealth ships well beyond the normal range
- Set game save directory under Windows
- Server command to issue a contract
- Allow Server to send News items to the Clients
- Escort contracts (issue and accept)
- Squadron Flights (not just a bunch of ships going to same places, fly & fight together)
- User selectable HUD colors
- Option for two additional MFD's in upper corners (high res only)
- Ability for Pilots to change Ship Names (for a small fee?)
- Option for side & top displays, etc (hi res only)
- Choice of display options for HUD features (no X on target, etc)
- When the lead indicator is off the screen, still show the line towards it from the target
- Add keyboard navigation of Menus
- Macro key capability
- Aux key bound to multiple Devices at the same time, all activated at once
- Weapons selection key that selects a specific weapon
- Target next non-ship object (gate, canister, ...) (was target next canister or shrapnel)
- Onboard gadget to access Economy Data
- Onboard gadget to access Contract Data
- Onboard GPS gadget with database of item coordinates (for deep space flight)
- Onboard IFF
- Flag gadget to play Capture the Flag with
- Flying/Control Capital Ships, Defense Pods, ...
- Capital Ships would have operating costs beyond Fuel & Energy (manpower)
- Vary how long shrapnel & canisters survive
- Items/asteroids/... in the middle of nowhere, without gates around (for deep space pilots to find)
- Support for a Race mode, extension of patrol contract, but only the first one to complete gets the prize
- Reduce resolution switching on Client (new nVidia drivers might have fixed this? but still a pain)
- Improved voice communications
- Server only & Client only versions
- Consider SDL version of Client
- More specialization on Station Production
- Allow renting space on Stations (Storage, Store, Manufacturing, ...)
- Ability to build a small Station or Base (destroyable)
- Ability to build & Fuel a Gate (VERY expensive)
- Get income from people using your gate, and the cost of Valerium
- Ensure that usage of gates consumes Valerium
- Setup processes for what happens if a Gate runs out of Valerium
- Have PVG's require Valerium Pellets as ammo in order to fire
- Fix sell units 64k crash
- Ensure design will allow future expansion in gadgets, etc...
- New hull designs
- Light weight expensive hull struts
- Adjustable turret strength & fire rates (seems real easy to take out turrets)
- High speed & range, low impact missles (possibly Imm?) (How do you stop a Bee?)
- ECM coating for ships, additional passive stealth that is easily damaged
- Armor layers (more expensive, & more mass, but better protection, not as bad as adding Struts)
- Multifire of more then one weapon type at a time (Megafire, hope you have lots of surge!)
- Introduce some hulls (to AI only) that permit thrusters to be in Engine bays and teach the AI's how to dodge shots
- Ability to customize AI, ship, station, gate, and planet names
- Ability to network multiple servers together into a single larger universe (how to handle Pilots jumping between them? Security?)
- Be able to declare war between Team/Clans & other groups
- Evaluate Engineering & Repair access without having to leave the flight screen (so you can see & steer)
- Add features/modules to enhance the RPG angle
- 'spellchecking' for /navlock & /target
- Have repairs & ship outfitting take time
- Cycle through Targets that matched the last /target command
- Cycle through destinations that matched the last /navlock command
- Flightlock to one target while targeting another (good for escorting)
- Ability to arm stations with turrets
- Player usage of Spy Probe
- Be able to adjust scaling on HUD graphics (specially in hi res)
- Give armor mass.
- Allow armor to affect top speed
- Evaluate improving the look and feel of screen menus, etc
- Make sure menus continue to operate, even if server freezes (kill the frozen mouse), see multi-threading
- Have menus/screens scale instead of switching resolutions (related to reducing resolution switching)
- Add more to do inside stations
- Make the insides of stations look different from each other
- Make the people standing around in stations useful in Free Mode
- Adjust the people standing around in stations based on Pilots docked
- Add a rating system to Pilots (newbie, ..., veteran). Different terms for the different occupations (separate from reputation)
- RPG in Station (related to people standing around, but more rooms & activity)
- Access Engineering while docked or pre-launch (Aux keys, adjust Repair List, Calibrate JS, ...)
- European Release
- Improve Marketing (or re-release) after new additions go in
- Encourage/support more 24x7 games servers world wide
- Better Save of Aux keys with ship better so they don't get lost
- Make sure if you remove equipment with Aux Key attached, they Key is freed
- When in Comm, get updates of Pilots Enter/Leaving
- Shuttle service between stations
- Control how shiptrails work for stealthed ships (why can you see them if your sensors can't)
- Emergency analog gauges for when computer fails
- Distance to surface of object, not just center (good for when approaching moons or planets)
- Read comm messages when at other camera views
- Auto repeate when typing comm messages (specially backspace!)
- Reload fill partial ammo clips
- Repair All fixing ammo
- Make existing gadgets be able to do unusual things in strange situations
